Lifeguard Training Class at Poquoson Pool • Register • View Cart •

WE ARE TRAINING!
Class will be a mix of online learning and skill practice.

If you become a successful candidate & become a hired lifeguard at the Poquoson Pool during the summer of 2025, the cost of the class will be REIMBURSED at the completion of the 2025 Season.

Remember that being hired at the Poquoson Municipal Pool is not guaranteed as there are pre-employment requirements and a hiring process for these seasonal staff positions.Must be a minimum age of 15 at start of class to train;

Potential Pool staff must be age 16 to apply.Training Information: Register for Class online at Poquosonrec.com;

Course Cost $200/ Non-residents $220.

Must attend all class dates: Swim test: June 1 5:30-7:30pm & Intro class unit at Poq Pool.
Skills Sessions: June 9 1-4pm;
June 10 1-4pm;
June 14 8am-12pm;
June 16 8am-12pm;
June 17 8am-12pm and
June 18 8am-12pm

First class will have a required swimming skills test that is a 150-meter swim in either front crawl (freestyle stroke)or breaststroke, then a 2-minute treading water with no hands, and then an additional 50-meter swim in front crawl or breaststroke. No swimming on the back during each of the meter swim is permitted. Following a brickdive/retrieval in deep water and swim 20 meters for time will also be required in accordance with the American Red Cross Training Standards. Must pass skills test to proceed with the course.
