Poquoson Parks & Recreation  Season Winter 2022 Youth Basketball League for Youth Ages 9-14

All registration is taken First Come, First Serve. Online Registration at Poquosonrec.com Registration will go live at 9am  November 17
Deadline is December 10 or until full.

No late registration will be accepted.
 
Cost per player: $80.00  Residents only

Season Information: Please Read Carefully.

Children will not be permitted to move above or below their age group this  season. No player younger than 9 as of 1/1/22 will be accepted. 
All Ages are determined by birthday as of 1/1/22.
Each age division can only accommodate 40 players.

Age Divisions:
Boys  ages 9 and 10 as of 1/1/22 and not yet 11 by 1/1/22 
Boys ages 11 and 12 as of 1/1/22 and not yet 13 by 1/1/22
Boys ages 13 and 14 as of 1/1/22 and not yet 15 by 1/1/22
Girls ages 9-14 as of 1/1/22 not yet 15 by 1/1/22 (one age group)

Each age group is limited to 40 players per age group.

Season Schedule: Each team will play 8 games. If there is inclement weather 7 will be the minimum offered.  Teams will be distributed to coaches following December 17. Teams will be drafted with  a modified draft this year and there will not be player evaluations conducted due to Covid mitigation measures.

Practices will likely begin  Jan. 3. Teams will practice a limited amount prior to the first game  during the week of January 3-7 at various locations in the City as  schedule allows.

Game Dates will either be Saturdays or Sundays  on the following 8 weekends.
January 8, 15, 22, 29, February 5, 12, 19, 26. In the event that there is inclement weather and a weekend is snowed out.  7 games will be the minimum number provided.

Game Times: Could be anytime on Saturdays, and anytime on Sundays based on facility available. This includes game times before 10-11am on Sundays as needed.

No carpool requests will be accepted.

Locations for play: May or may not be within the City of Poquoson.

Spectators: Locations will allow for parents to attend games. All spectators will be required to wear a mask to all games at all facilities and follow the facility rules as required.

Coaches:  If you desire to coach a team, please indicate it at the time of registration. A team may only have 1 assistant coach per team.

Size of teams: Team will have up to 10 players per team.

Practice Times: Practice times will be assigned  based on coach’s scheduling needs. PPR does not  guarantee practice days or times  to any player or coach. Space is on an as available     basis.  It is anticipated teams will practice 1 time per week while in season between games.
Mask protocols will be enforced for spectators and players on the bench and during all activities while in attendance at all activities.

Register: Use the online registration at www.poquosonrec.com or in person at 830 Poquoson Avenue– Municipal Building . Registration opens 9am online and 9am in person.

It should be noted that the department is dealing with considerable facility limitations due to the closure and construction at the Poquoson Middle School Gym. There will be no games played at the Poquoson Middle School Gym this season. Due to the generosity of Emmaus Baptist Church the Department is able to utilize their facility for practices, and some limited practice space at the Poquoson Elementary Gym as available.
